It's that time of year again, which is to say it's time to put in a plug for the charity I support, the Behind the Scenes Foundation. These are the folks that issue grants to entertainment technology professionals, or their immediate dependent family, in need due to serious illness or injury that may be used for basic living, medical or funeral expenses. The charity also issues counseling grants to assist with the costs of seeing a therapist or in-patient or out-patient rehabilitation. The BTS Mental Health Initiative provides tools and resources that support entertainment industry workers to promote mental health and wellness.
One of the ways that I'm involved is by hosting an annual charity motorcycle ride. The Rocky Mountain Ghostlight Riders are part of an affinity fundraising program started by the Foundation. Anyone can start up a Ghostlight Group and raise money by gathering other like minded folks in doing an activity you already love to do. Check it out and start a group!
This year's ride will be a tour though Colorado's mountain theater companies, including the Tabor Opera House, Creede Repertory Theatre, and the Wright Opera House in Ouray. Colorado has a rich history of mountain theater companies stretching back to the mining days. We hope to meet some theater people, shake some hands, and raise awareness for the Foundation. Feel free to contribute!
